The Union Cabinet has recently signed an agreement between India and Portugal on recruiting Indian skilled professionals to live and work in Portugal. The deal would set a platform between India and Portugal on sending and accepting Indian skilled workers. It will also ensure legal and safe migration flow based on the established procedures as per the employment contract in Portugal.

The Ministry has also emphasized that once the agreement comes to effect and Portuguese employers plan to hire Indian workers; they must notify the Employment and Vocational Training Institute (IEFP), further transit the proposal to Indian Authorities.
