Immigrate to Canada by Starting a business
Canada business visa is designed by the government to select business class immigrants who can set up a business in the country, become economically established, and contribute to the Canadian economy. You can apply for various pathways under the business visa wherein you need to establish the business in the country and attain permanent residency. You can bring your family and your business partners along with you as a part of the application.
What are the pathways where you can start a business and immigrate?
Canada start-up visa is the primary pathway for your immigration to Canada. Under the route, you need to enter the country under the work permit and start the business in Canada by acquiring letters of Support and investments from the designated investment bodies of Canada. You do not need to invest your own money for business incorporation; however, you must have sufficient funds to run the business in Canada.
You can also choose other pathways such as Canada PNP Program Entrepreneur Streams that are run by different provinces. You can choose pathways such as:
- Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (Entrepreneur Stream)
- British Columbia Entrepreneur Immigration (Base category)
- Quebec Entrepreneur Program
- British Columbia Regional Pilot Program
- Saskatchewan Entrepreneur Stream
- Manitoba Entrepreneur Pathway
- Nova Scotia Entrepreneur Stream
- Prince Edward Island (Business Impact Category)
To apply for the above pathways, you need to meet certain eligibility requirements of the programs. Each program has a different set of requirements and processes. Generally, you would need an investment range of CAD 100,000 to CAD 600,000 and a Net-worth range of CAD 300,000 to CAD 900,000 without any requirement of a Canada startup visa incubator.
There is another pathway wherein you can start a business and immigrate. The pathway is known as C-11 Visa which is fairly unknown to many professionals. It is an LMIA-exempt work permit for business professionals who wish to operate a business in Canada and attain PR Visa. You can move to Canada under the work permit and set up your business or purchase a business wherein the ownership must be a minimum of 50%. With successful business incorporation, you can achieve PR with your Canadian experience under the Canada Express Entry or Canadian Experience Class.
